(no subject)

Entry about the attacks on London today, terrorism and hate in general. Also about Windows For Peace, an organisation trying to help stop hatred and violence in Israel and Palestine...seems a little far away to affect us. And it is. But I care. Been performing a play on the subject, at HD&OS.

We've all heard about the attacks on London, the 37+ death count, the innocent victims whose lives were destroyed by this hatred and the senseless attacks - not just the victims themselves, but families, friends and anyone involved. So here's my thoughts on it.

I can't pretend I know why these attacks happened, for hatred, for attention over the G8 summit - who knows? I think that they were done primarily to bring down London's transport system rather than for destroying life, but they have still completely destroyed many people's lives. Whatever the reason, they are murderers. Whatever can they achieve like this?

I hope that nobody will take this opportunity to blame anybody unnecessarily, especially Muslims. So far people seem to be handling it well, Muslim leaders expressing their sorrow for what has happened. The prejudice is ridiculous and we should accept other people without placing blame anywhere just because of their religion or race.

On a slightly related note, you might know I'm involved in a drama production with HD&OS. It's for Windows For Peace, and is about the war and lives of people in Israel and Palestine. Talk to me about it a few months ago, and I wouldn't really know what you were talking about. I've learnt a lot about that, and the nature of people, the way things happen. And they shouldn't happen.

It's all because of hatred. I wish for a world without hated. It never helps anybody, never solves any problems. Why hate somebody, when all it can cause is destrucion? So many people in these countries are being brought up to hate others, purely based on where they live. There is far too much Palestinian propaganda encouraging children to join extremist terrorist groups, to carry out attacks such as the ones on London today. And The Wall, what good does it do? It's aim is to keep out terrorists, but it doesn't succeed. All it does is build up the hatred between the two sides, and alienate them even further from each other.

What can we do? Not much. But Windows For Peace can help, I think. Teach the children not to hate. Stop them from being subjected to all this propaganda. Educate them. Both sides are victims, and something should be done.
