Yesterday at the pOst was such a dead loss that when I got the green light to leave early, I went home, curled up, slept, woke up, cried, and proceeded to sleep on and off all night. Depression is completely exhausting, and I now admit that I'm going through a definite bout of that. I hate it. And I hate this placement ehere I am given nothing to ( Read more... )

don't let any of this get you down. the first few days ANYWHERE are difficult, especially when you're at the bottom of the ladder. even here, when the new president of our television department (a huge responsibility) arrived one day, no one knew he was coming- and worse, no one knew where he would SIT. so take it all in stride. it's not that they don't care about you, or that they have no use for you (why would they take you on as an intern then?) it's just it takes a few days to be incorporated into the fabric of a place like that. just relax, take it easy for a bit, and soon i'm sure they'll have you working like a mule.

And considering that they weren't actually expecting you until today (though you'd think a place like The Post could readjust quickly) getting an assignment this morning is right on track. NO consolation for the lack of interest from other employees, but some workplaces are like that. Againk, that's no consolation. Here's hoping things pick up speedily.

Did you ever read The Kite Runner, by the way? Do you want any books to wile away your weekends? I really should introduce you to Sarah Paretsky's books. No gorgeous wardrobes, but the protagonist (a lawyer gone Private Eye) is terrific and the storylines are diverse and intriguing.
