[Character name] Elizabeth Ethel Cordelia Middleford
[Age] 14
[Canon] Kuroshitsuji
[Point in time taken from canon] After chapter 49, though her last manga appearance was on chapter 37, the lastest chapters had no effect on her except that she was at her home rather than at Ciel's place before finding herself in Somarium.

[Background] Manga Synopsis only

[Personality] Overall Elizabeth is nothing but a bucket of sweetness. She's a blessed child, having a high social status that warrants her anything she may want, two loving parents, a fiancé that she loves and, basically, a life without tragedy. However, that only applies to her direct family and home. She's not a stranger to tragedy, having seen her uncle and his wife, her fiancé's parents, murdered in their own house that was set on fire while her fiancé went missing for a whole month, leaving no trace of even if he was still alive or not. Even after Ciel returned anyone with eyes could see that the tragedy were farther than him having been lost somewhere. He had lost his smile and one of his eyes, he had lost the inner light he used to have, all crushed by whatever happened while he was missing. Elizabeth isn't a stupid child, she knows Ciel, and she doesn't need people telling her what happened to know that it was horrible and that he may never be able to get over it. She has also seen Ciel's other aunt murdered, the once bright and lively woman dressed in red suddenly dressed in white with a pale skin.

Lizzie has always had everything she wanted within the closest range of her family and home, but she has seen her share of tragedy and pain and she has suffered it as if it was directly related to her due of how much she loves and cares for Ciel. She can be quite empathic and tries her best to give support and comfort when she notices that those are needed. Unfortunately, her understanding ends there. She can know when people are suffering, when they are troubled, but having never been troubled or suffering directly herself there's little she can do. Because of that her attempts to cheer people up, to help them, always end going overboard and seeming as cold and selfish acts on her part. Because she can't understand completely, she tries to fix things the way she believes they would be fixed for her, if she was in their situation, and thus she ends creating private parties and dances and games, which to others often just seem as her being careless about others' suffering and just wanting to have fun herself.

Though she is a spoiled child and can indeed act like one, whining and demanding in order to get what she wants, she tries to not be selfish and to be proper and polite, but again she often finds herself failing at that task due lack of information. She has lost count of how many times she has asked something to her parents or Ciel only to have the question rejected in different ways, no one ever wanting to tell her anything in order to protect her, but that also causes her to be unable to be anything else but a spoiled and selfish child. An example can be seen when, in one of her attempts to cheer up Ciel, she got angry at him for wearing the ring he always wore instead of the one she got him. No one had ever told her what that ring represented, what it meant or what it was, so for her it was just another decoration, one he had chosen at some point and didn't want to take of in order to use hers even if hers was better. Had she been told from the start or even before that the ring was a heirloom and proof of who the head of the Phantomhive was, she probably wouldn't have reacted the way she did, neither would she have broken it in a tantrum. In fact, she probably would have chosen clothes that would fit the ring, instead of choosing the clothes she wanted and then finding a suitable decoration for them.

Lizzie is a social girl, she loves meeting people and learning about other places and hear stories, and she loves to attend to parties and events, mixing in them perfectly and with ease even if she is basically the only child of her age around. As the daughter of a Marquis, Elizabeth receives an excellent education even if she's a girl, probably thanks to her mother's nature. She's quite a liberal girl as well, having been surrounded by examples of outstanding women who had nothing to envy to men, her own mother and Ciel's other aunt, Angelina, being examples of this. Both were strong women with pride and success on their own without living under the shadow of their husbands, while at the same time they DID have husbands, which is basically the highest aspiration a woman can have. Not only that, but her mother got even a higher social position than her brother, Ciel's father, thanks to her marriage, which she got after defeating her husband in a fencing match. No, Lizzie doesn't know what it means that a woman can't do something or that she's not equal to a man, however, she understands that women and men are meant to be different and she herself has no wish to compete with any man, much less her fiancé. Because of that, even if she's what could be considered as liberal for her time, she's still quite settled in a misogynist mindset.

Still, like her mother, Lizzie has a competitive nature. She understands how serious a competition is, even a friendly one in a game-set, competitions are meant to be taken seriously and to give one's best in them, not to "play nice" and lose. She's the kind of person who would actually frown and be disappointed at anyone who rejects a competition, no matter what kind of competition it is. Lizzie herself, even if she rarely challenges anyone, would never back down from a competition, or from anything she sets her mind into actually. Still, she prefers it when the competition isn't against someone else, preferring to work together with others and have fun, instead she's prone to challenge "invisible things" like unhappiness or worries that steal smiles and happiness from those she cares about. It could be said that her wish to help others and cheer them up is nothing but her competitiveness nature and her will to not give up on being able to see someone's smile or have fun with them.

[Abilities] N/A

[Other important stuff] Elizabeth comes from the English Victorian era so her sets of values can be expected to be different from those people who are from a more modern time. An example would be that back in the Victorian era the legs were considered the most obscene part of a woman's body, so the idea of wearing a skirt that doesn't reach her knees at the very least will be something that won't cross her mind ever. She will also need some time to get used to those women with clothing that shows the legs, though probably she will eventually get used to it as she can be quite tolerant -as seen in manga chapter 37, she was embarrassed upon seeing Nina's legs but other than pointing that out she kind of stopped minding it after a bit-. Her ideas about women and men will also be kind of different as it was quite a misogynist era, however her background and social position (marchioness) make Lizzie quite "liberal". The idea of a woman beating a man in a duel of any short isn't something strange for her, neither the idea of a woman working as a doctor. Still there will be things in which she will probably have a big fall apart, like a wife's duties, or simply that marriage is the highest aspiration for a woman. Don't expect her to be good with technology though -even if Kuroshitsuji likes to play with that and have children use a DS videogame when there wasn't even indoor plumbing-.

[Sample post]
[First Person]

- Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?
Power hungry? That's a funny idea, I'm a girl! A wife's duty is to take care of the house and children, making sure that the servants do their chores adequately and to support her husband without stepping in his path. I will leave the power issues to Ciel if he wants to.

- If I offered to save your soul for a price, would you go with it and why?
My... My soul? That sounds kind of overwhelming don't you think? I... I can't say I would go with it or not. I suppose it would depend of the circumstances and the price? Or don't I get to know what the price is until the deal is made? Though I suppose that if it comes to a situation of saving my soul it would be a really horrible situation, right? I... I would like to say that I wouldn't, because souls are something that God gave us, only he has the right and power to save or condemn us like that... But I don't know if I would be strong enough to keep saying that if I was really at such a situation...

- If you could have any super ability, what would it be and why?
To bring a smile to Ciel's face and wash away all the unhappy memories he has! Not make him forget them though, I wouldn't want that, but if I could make them... Painless or something. Or maybe instead of washing them away, the power to create thousand of happy memories from now on? Ah, maybe that's not really a super ability? But Ciel can be so grumpy and it's so hard to make him smile... Or maybe it's just that I always overdo things, then the ability to know when to stop would be nice... I'm sorry, I can't think of anything else that I would want to do more than to make him happy and have a live full of happy memories from now on.

- You're asked to take someone out for a date. Do you agree? If so, describe what you would do. If not, tell why.
So... Someone? I would if it's Ciel, but I don't need anyone to ask me to take him out for a date, I'm always trying to do so! But if it's not him... I suppose we're talking about boys, right? You wouldn't use the term "date" for another girl... Then I wouldn't. If it's not Ciel, it's nor right for me to go with anyone else on a date of any kind, I'm an engaged woman, you know. And I love Ciel, even if it's an arranged marriage, I want to be his wife when I grow up. I've always wanted to. So unless that "someone" you mentioned is him, I won't do it, no matter what even if it may be rude, it would be worse if I was unfaithful to Ciel like that.

- Murder. What is your opinion?
My opinion? What do you mean by my opinion? Murder is a horrible thing! It's one of the worst things in the world, that's not an opinion it's how things are. Doesn't everyone think the same? Murder, it means to kill someone, to end a life, no one has the right to do such a thing! Not only that but... It causes so much suffering, it breaks families, leaves good children all alone and lost. It causes nothing by regrets and tears! I hate it! Why must people kill other people? Don't we all have families? People we love? Why do some wish to rip away our families and take away our happiness like that? Would they want that to happen to their families? I... I can't understand... I can't believe murderers are even human people, they are monsters!

- You have two options: either save your friend who is hanging from a cliff, or chase after the bad guy who put them in a position. If you choose the former, the bad guy will get away and it will be hard to catch him. If you choose the latter, the cliff will crumble and the friend will fall to the spiky rocks below. What do you do and why?
SAVE HIM! How could I ever consider anything else? Even if the culprit runs away forever, who would turn their back to their friend like that? No matter what, if I can I will save him! Even without knowing that if I didn't help him he would die for sure, he's hanging from a cliff! That's more than enough to know that he's in danger and needs help! Getting the culprit would never bring back my friend if I went after him instead!

- Do you prefer the city or living out in the country? Why?
Eh? I have to choose one? Why? Both my family and Ciel have both a place at London for use when we have to stay close to the city and the main residence, more at the countryside to relax and enjoy the peace of being away from the city. I honestly like both places, though the main residence feels more private and "home" to me, being at the city is also fun, it means going to a lot of parties and getting to meet a lot of people! And it's good for status and business, right? That's what I have been told. So why would I have to choose? Both places have great things I love doing and having and it's not as if I'm poor enough to only have one of them.

[Third Person]

"Mama!" Her own voice startled herself. The sudden gasp and the call, a name she hasn't uttered in a long while now, both of them felt foreign, as if coming from someone else. Lizzie blinked, still surprised by herself, eyes locked into the cold, empty eyes of the teddy bear she was holding. Hands frozen while they were tying the pink ribbon of a pretty hat into a knot, right under the teddy bear's chin.

As she looked into the lifeless eyes, she came back to herself. That's right, she had been working hard, trying her best to make the room pretty and cute, full of color and sweets. It always made her happy and kept her busy, but sometimes... Sometimes it made her feel lonely and her mind would wander, just like it had done now. She had remembered how she used to do the same work back at home, at Ciel's place, in order to bring a smile to his face. And how it seemed to fail most of the time and she ended just being sent back home with her mother and her father...

She missed them. She missed her home. She missed the country-side, the city. She missed the social season, the events to celebrate Eastern. Her attendants, her friends, her home tutors... Her whole life, as a matter of fact. She wanted to go back there, she wanted to go back home. To wake up like she had that one day and find herself back at Ciel's home rather than in this world.

Being alone hurt, trapped and lost in a strange world, it was horrible. Like a nightmare, one she wouldn't be waking up from any time soon, that was something she had already come to understand. Just as she had understood that she couldn't just curl and cry, waiting for her parents or for Ciel to come and take her back home. It was something she had always known, just from looking at her mother, a strong woman who wouldn't give up at anything. So proud and strong that she had no shame on defeating her husband in a fencing match countless of times. And yet she was the perfect lady, composed and elegant, calm, never standing in Lizzie's father's path, but never falling too behind him to not be able to quickly support him if she had to. She admired her mother, and she wanted to be like her one day, or at least similar enough to be considered a good wife.

One day, once she returned home, she would become a wife. She would become Ciel's wife, married to the head of the Phantomhive family. "A Phantomhive wife can't be a weak crybaby, right?" She smiles brightly at the teddy bear as she reminds it to herself aloud.

At first, upon arriving to this place, she had been lost and confused, scared and in the verge of tears, just wanting to go back home with Ciel. But that had made her remember, a time that had been just like another nightmare. That whole month in which they didn't know what had happened with Ciel, right after his parents were murdered... When everyone assumed he was dead but Lizzie was too stubborn to believe that too. Ciel had been alone back then. Alone and lost, just like her, in a horrible place that stole from him and from her his smile and one of his eyes. She knew he had suffered a lot, even if he didn't tell, even if no one mentioned it. She could see it in his eyes, wounds that couldn't be healed with just medicine or bandages, wounds still open and sore even after three years. That was why she had decided to try to heal those wounds, to try to stop unhappy memories to keep collecting around Ciel, to try and recover the smile that was lost.

That had been her resolution. She had decided to not lose against unhappiness and the nightmare, and she had to keep up that resolution now. For herself instead of just for Ciel.

"I'll be strong... If he could do it I will be able to do it too, right, Mister Bear?" The smile becomes even brighter and the cold, lifeless eyes of the plushie seem to change, they seem warmer even if still lifeless. The pink hat becomes even pinker and she squeals in delight as she admires her handiwork in the whole room. Bright and warm colors everywhere, all kind of decorations and cute things all around. The sight lifted her mood right away.

She didn't belong to this world. This wasn't her home. But she would make it be her home. She would transform it into a happy and cute place. She wouldn't lose her smile. And who knew? Maybe one day Ciel or her parents would come too, if she wasn't able to go back home, then that would be the best option, right? Even if they were away from London, so long as they were together they would be at home. And she would be there already, waiting for all of them. For her parents, for the servants, for her friends... And for Ciel. She would wait for him forever, until he came, either to join her or to take her home. And she would welcome him like always, with a bright smile and a cheerful voice, no matter what. Without any trace of unhappiness or pain, and she would drag him to dance with her the whole night, and play with the plushies, and wear the clothes she had picked for him. Until he too, recovered his smile.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I have been looking at this comm for a long time already, but never found a muse that I wanted to bring neither I had much time for it with my new work. Now my work is ending soon and I got a muse! Lizzie, honestly, I think she's a char that would be fun to play here, I'm already having tons of fun with her just on dear_mun and having a settled cast is a plus too.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] I like the rule regarding activity level and how activity is judged. I usually manage to always post and have long threads but sometimes I just prefer to thread around. It's awesome that we're given the chance to pass even if we don't make posts per say.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] From several puppets playing here, by stalking the community of dear_mun
[Any questions?] Just one but this is me just being curious, not really interested. Regarding the rule about cross-canon and its exceptions, would the anime and manga of Kuroshitsuji be considered as that? Given that even if the anime started following the manga closely it ended diverging to its own way with drastic differences (specially if we take into consideration the second anime).
