Note #14 To Self: Get a Christian bible, specifically King James translation. Use internet (1958) to your advantage by researching Papyrus 115, as it may hold clues--may, however. Also, dig up the Gematria books anywhere you can find them (most likely third shelf--go figure it would be 3.) So far all I remember is X is 60, though I don't commonly ( Read more... )

Hebrew Gemetria is difficult to use with English texts for a variety of reasons - one of them being the lack of a good correspondence for some letters, like X. (I suppose you could use Tzadei's numerical correspondence instead, but it's not quite the same sound.) The other problem is the lack of vowels - since Yod and Aleph do exist, but are not used in cases where you would expect to see them used, there's a lot of room for uncertainty.

Use a good English system instead.

May I ask why you're using Gematria to begin with?

Thank you for the suggestions! I'm really not good when it comes to numerology and religion.

Research for a case. It apparently involves numerology, but strictly Gematria (since the people chosen were because of their Gematric numbers.) The Bible for research on 666 and 665, and how one number off could lead to one life saved, haha.

It's no problem.

Do remember that in the original texts the number was quite possibly 616. I'm not certain your criminals know that, but it's worth investigating every possibility.

Good luck on the case.

Yup, 616 is kept in mind. Though 666 was adopted as the official Number of the Beast, 665 has popped up a bit more, and was included in a newly discovered papyrus document. Though I'm thinking 666--but even then, using Gematric numerology, I want to give it a shot anywho.

Thank you! I just hope I can measure up to the rest of you guys.
