I want to be all "Don't worry about what the other person is doing!", but when I was on the synchronized swimming team in grade ten (which was comprised largely of swim team members), I was in the same shoes. I felt painfully slow and weak and like I wasn't getting anywhere, but I realized toward the end of it, when I enrolled in some swimming lessons elsewhere, that I was a great shape for it :) Ah hell, go anyway and don't worry about what Cat is doing :P Just remember to push yourself a little bit too. I like to cycle through lengths, mixing breat stroke in in the with front crawl and back stroke in with the back crawl so I never get too out of breath.
