Hi all!
Recently I posted about some conflicting feelings I had about weight loss and getting pregnant and because of all the wonderful, supportive comments I received my husband and I have made the commitment to both keep TTC and live a healthier lifestyle.
Today we went together to a partner of my existing OB-Gyn because I was having some cervical and abdominal pain.
This doctor evaluated me because I was on Lupron Depot for a year, a drug that's supposed to stop your periods (due to endometriosis) -- but I had periods nearly the entire time I was on that injection. Then in August, 6 weeks after my last injection, my periods stopped and never came back back. At first I was okay with this because of the intense pain I'd associated with my period, but even I had to admit recently that this wasn't "normal" for me since I was always super regular (every 28 days). This added to the recent pain and nausea (complete with like 15 negative home pregnancy tests since Christmas) -- I finally gave in and conceded I should go in and get evaluated.
Today's doctor was a very kind, supportive, knowledgeable guy who explained that most likely my period was trying to come on but that I probably needed some help from a drug called provera (medroxyprogesterone) and that while he felt confident I would probably ovulate on my own, he also prescribed clomid (clomiphene citrate) just in case my recent last few pounds of weight gain pushed my bmi up high enough to effect my ovulation. He asked if I was working on nutrition & excercising & was really supportive and was giving my husband all kinds of healthy cooking tips. He said he felt confident that I could live healthily and be pregnant (and big).
He even wrote me another prescription -- for sex! Hahaha Well, he was emphasizing the timing required once the clomid works, but I thought it was a warm, nice touch.
Mainly I want to just encourage everyone who is still searching for that supportive and helpful OB-Gyn -- there have been times when I thought none existed -- but keep looking -- apparently they *are* out there!
I'll keep y'all posted.
