last thursday, i purchased a used bicycle. it is a univega (apparently a precursor to the raleigh brand from the 80s), in the "activa country" style. essentially it's a hybrid - mountain bike handlebars with a slimmed down road bike frame, and tires somewhere in between the two styles. the frame is purple, and the lettering on it is *very* '80s

I'd consider getting a bike, but I am unaware of any lightly traveled streets around here. This area is obsessed with expressways, and there's no way I'm getting out on a 10-lane freeway-with-signals on a bike. They're making a concerted effort to improve the bike paths around here though, so maybe in a year or two...
