From the first moment they met, Sunwoo was pretty sure his dorm mate was going to drive him crazy.
"Excuse me," he had said then, setting the single luggage he had right onto the floor. He blinked as the sheets on one of the beds wriggled to and fro before a boy with messy brown hair and thick glasses peeked out into the open, staring at him with squinted eyes. "Uh. Hi, I'm Cha Sunwoo. You must be--"
"Lee Junghwan." the boy, or rather, Junghwan cut in. He grinned broadly, jumping out of his bed, before he scurried over to his things, which were taking up almost half of the room. He pulled off a sheet of paper from somewhere between his books that were piled on top of one another, quickly handing it over to Sunwoo. "I got that from the welcoming committee earlier. I thought you could use one too."
Sunwoo blinked down at what he made out as a map of the college campus. He let a few awkward beats pass before he looked up, forcing a smile.
"Er," he cleared his throat, folding the paper several times before jamming it into his pocket. "Thanks." Then, because he felt like being civil for once, he extended his hand, which Junghwan took and shook with vigor.
He smiled then, a huge, sort-of creepy smile that made him look really unflattering, but somehow, all Sunwoo could think of was how nice Junghwan's eyes were as they crinkled into bright half-moons.

A week after they met, Junghwan, who seemed to have grown more comfortable with Sunwoo (unlike the latter), began singing in a loud, obnoxious voice whenever both he and Sunwoo were in their dorm room.
"Okay, seriously," Sunwoo said as he slammed his pen down beside his unfinished algebra homework, spinning around his seat to face Junghwan, who was seconds away from breaking into a high note. "I know you think you have a great voice, and well, you do, but this is getting really annoying."
Junghwan blinked, feigning innocence. "I have no idea what's annoying you, Sunwoo. I'm just serenading you with my golden voice, that's all."
"You call that serenading?" Sunwoo snorted. "Yeah, now I can totally understand why girls aren't flocking anywhere near you."
"W-what?" Junghwan nearly shrieked, his face reddening as Sunwoo broke into a fit of laughter. "Singing trot is actually one of the most romantic things a guy can do! And-- and at least I don't listen to unhealthy songs like some people around here!"
"What're you trying to say," Sunwoo said, getting up to his feet. Junghwan firmly kept his place on his bed, arms over his chest. "Are you saying I listen to shit music or something?"
"I didn't say that." Junghwan replied in a tone that fully implied just that. Sunwoo's eyes narrowed into slits.
"Yeah, okay, let me get my earphones and bless your deprived ears with some real music."
And as Sunwoo jumped into Junghwan's bed with an iPod full of rap and R&B songs and a set of trusty earphones, he was surprised (and rather pleased) to realize that the other boy was offering little to no resistance at all.
And so, their entire night was spent with an earphone jammed into both one of their ears, Sunwoo jabbing Junghwan's side whenever the latter threw some lame, half-meant commentary about the current selection.
Sunwoo's algebra homework lay forgotten on his work desk.

"Have you ever tried using contact lenses before?" Junghwan asked as he laid on his bed, eyes staring up at the ceiling.
"Nah, why?" Sunwoo replied after a few moments, closing his History book shut.
"I've been thinking--"
"That's new." Sunwoo interjected, smirking at his own joke.
"Wow, shut up." Junghwan deadpanned, eyes still on the ceiling. "Okay, so as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted... I've been thinking of getting contact lenses."
"What? Why?" Sunwoo asked, tilting his head to the side. "I thought your glasses work perfectly fine."
"Well, yeah, they do. But... well," Junghwan sat up, face flushed and thick glasses askew. "I kind of. Er, casually asked someone out. And then she, sort of, like, turned me down? But! It's not like it's a big deal, I mean she wasn't my type anyway--"
"Wait wait wait." Sunwoo held a hand up, barely stifling his giggles. Junghwan's face flushed even more. "You got turned down? Because of what?"
"Because of the glasses!" Junghwan said, throwing his arms up in exasperation. "I look like a nerd, and nobody, nobody in this entire campus, and possibly in this entire planet, would ever date a nerd like me!"
"But you're not even a nerd intellectually. You're just, I don't know, average and stuff."
"That's exactly the point." Junghwan's shoulders sagged, then he proceeded to bury his face into his hands. "I'm not even nerd-level smart, but I got turned down because I look like one. It's tragic."
"Hey, man," Sunwoo walked over to his dorm mate, the desire to poke fun at him leaving all at once as he sat beside Junghwan on the bed. "it's not your fault you've got bad eyesight. And neither is it your fault that you're not Einstein-smart or whatever."
Junghwan mumbled something into his hands, and because Sunwoo couldn't really make out what he was saying, he instead reached over and began to rub the boy's back in what he hoped was a comforting manner.
"And to be honest," Sunwoo continued, turning to stare at Junghwan's head. "I think it's pretty dumb of you to get contact lenses just because some girl turned you down. It's not like you're ugly with your glasses or anything, because personally, I think you're beautiful no matter what--"
Junghwan's head shot up, a mixture of confusion and amusement and something else evident on his face. Sunwoo blinked, throat turning dry.
"Did you just say--"
"I didn't say anything." Sunwoo said quickly as he drew his hand away from Junghwan's back.
"But I heard you--"
"Heard what?" Sunwoo said, looking away. His hands began to shake, so he held them together as he bit his lip. Shit, "A-anyway, it's not like changing the way you look is going to help you get a girl. For one, your feet smell. And you fart in your sleep."
"What-- I-- that was totally uncalled for!" Junghwan whacked Sunwoo's arm, face blushing so much that it seemed almost possible for steam to suddenly erupt from his ears.
Sunwoo accepted each whack without any complaints, relieved that he had managed to distract Junghwan, but at the same time scared, for he realized that even though what he had said was a big risk to their friendship, Sunwoo found that he didn't really regret it one bit.
*
Sunwoo wasn't really sure how they managed to get into a fight, or what the reason even was. All he knew was that somehow, this was different from all the other fights they've had before.
For one, Junghwan wasn't giving him the silent treatment at all. He still talked to Sunwoo, helped him with his Math and laughed just a little when the other cracked a joke, but for the most part he was distant and quiet.
And there was the case with Sunwoo, because unlike the other times where he'd wait for Junghwan to apologize first, he found that he'd do anything just to have the regular, old Junghwan back again, even if it meant apologizing a million times over.
"Hey," Sunwoo prodded Junghwan's arm with his pen. When the latter didn't acknowledge him, he scooted closer beside him. "Hey, Junghwan."
"...yeah?"
Sunwoo forced a grin, and although Junghwan raised an eyebrow at him, he grinned back.
"You're not angry with me or anything, are you?" Sunwoo licked his lips nervously. "Because the truth is, I don't even remember what we fought about anymore."
Junghwan stared at him for a while, face unreadable. Then he groaned, burying his face into the crook of his arm.
"You're so stupid, I swear." he said, face burrowed into his sleeve. Sunwoo scratched the back of his head, accepting defeat.
"Yeah, I am. And I'm sorry--"
Junghwan suddenly pulled him by the collar then, leveling their faces. "It's okay. I don't remember too."
Then because Sunwoo was just so relieved and happy and dizzy from the fact that they were this close, he found himself leaning closer and closer and closer until he felt Junghwan's lips against his, cold and nothing of what he imagined it would be because it felt more than that, greater than anything else and--
Junghwan tilted his head, hand coming up to brush against Sunwoo's cheek, and Sunwoo felt his heart flutter and his knees wobble as he realized that yes, Junghwan was in fact kissing him back.
Junghwan was kissing him back.
*
"You know," Sunwoo said one day as he laid on Junghwan's bed, the said boy right beside him. "this whole my-boyfriend-and-dorm-mate thing is going to drive me crazy, I can just feel it."
"Yeah?" Junghwan smiled, eyes curving up behind his thick glasses. "Well, I'm not just some ordinary dorm mate-slash-boyfriend. I'm Lee Junghwan, and not only am I devastatingly handsome, I also happen to have a pretty awesome voice."
"Wow," Sunwoo snorted, rolling over to Junghwan's side. "Shut up."
Junghwan laughed, the sound ringing in Sunwoo's ears. "Make me."
And because Sunwoo was so used to shutting him up, he did.
(Only this time, instead of punching Junghwan's arm, Sunwoo kissed him, because he found that that was a much better way of shutting him up.)
