A/N: Hello! Yes, this is another Onkey. Hopefully you'll all like it. :)
Jinki's never done anything like this, but as he rounds a corner, his hands slippery as he grips the steering wheel tightly, he supposes it also isn't that bad of an idea. He also considers that this isn't actually an idea he himself had formulated; he could always blame Jonghyun, his friend and colleague, when something goes terribly wrong with this night's ordeal.
Loosen up, he says, Jinki thinks as he squints, trying to make out solid patterns in the dark streets overhead. Hire a prostitute, he says.
Jinki is against the very notion of acquiring sexual favors from someone he barely knew, much less from a prostitute, but Jonghyun was firm with the idea, saying that he pities Jinki's sad state of involuntary chastity.
And of course Jinki, being the gullible person that he is, had hesitantly agreed to Jonghyun's proposal, because just as his friend had said, what could possibly go wrong?
But now, as Jinki slows down his car to take a good look of his surroundings, he feels the cold dread seeping through his bones. This was definitely the place, or rather, the street that Jonghyun had carefully described to him in hushed tones between office desks.
Unfamiliar eyes, thick with mascara and something easily mistaken as lust but not quite, stare at him as he anxiously grips the steering wheel tighter. His heart squeezes in on itself as he makes a full stop, hearing the clacking of heels, the smell of something forbidden wafting through the thick midnight air.
A delicate hand raps against the slightly tinted passenger window. Jinki jumps, a gasp barely leaving his lips as he reluctantly rolls down the window, revealing a thick leather jacket and accentuated hips.
Then a young man with feline eyes peeks into the car, his breath foggy from the cold air. He stares at Jinki, whose eyes is also transfixed at the young man.
"Can I get a ride?" the young man with feline eyes finally says.
Are they always this straightforward?, Jinki asks himself, then without really thinking through it, he nods his head, unlocking the passenger door and letting this complete stranger ease his way into the passenger seat.
When the young man was fully seated, Jinki starts the engine, a heavy silence bearing over his shoulders as he speeds up, hearing imaginary police sirens and seeing lipstick smeared faces behind bars.
But the thought quickly diminishes when the young man softly tells him to slow down until they finally come to a full stop. Jinki realizes that they're somewhere abandoned and dark and awfully dangerous, but he thinks none of it as he places a hand on the young man's thigh. His breath stutters when he realizes how soft and plump it is even beneath the skinny jeans.
Then the young man does something oddly disturbing for a prostitute. His eyes go wide in alarm and he slaps Jinki's hand away. He huffs a breath, completely scandalized.
"What the hell?" the young man says, his eyes turning sharper as he throws a glare that pierces through Jinki's skin. "Seriously? Fuck, I thought you were a decent guy and all. I can't believe this, god."
Jinki blinks in a completely confused manner. He purses his lips and expects the young man to make his leave (maybe complete with a punch in the gut or two), but it doesn't come. Instead, the young man leans against his seat, shoulders sagging as he eyes Jinki wearily.
"Do I really look that slutty for you to think that I'm a prostitute?"
Jinki feels the trepidation working into his bones as his lips turn pale. He runs the question over and over his head, and finally, with a shaking hand, he covers his mouth in a desperate attempt to hide his shock.
But it's pretty useless, because Jinki himself knows that his eyes speak louder than anything else.
"I-- oh god, shit, I'm so sorry." he mumbles apologetically, his face turning into a shade of violent red as he bows repeatedly even in the confined space. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know. I-- please, I didn't... let me make it up to you in any way. I'm so, so sorry."
Jinki can't control his mouth now, seeing that the rational part of his brain has already shut down with the marring embarrassment of actually assuming that an innocent young man was a--
"Well, like I said, I wanted a ride, right?" the young man quips, cutting through Jinki's endless blabbering. He straightens up in his seat, pointing to somewhere beyond Jinki's eyes. "I'll only forgive you if you take me there. Right there to the farthest point."
Jinki nods all too vigorously, thanking the gods as he apparently finds an easy way out of this fiasco. He starts the engine again, intent on taking this young man to wherever his destination was.
But before he could step on the gas pedal, the young man holds out his hand to Jinki.
"I'm Kim Kibum, by the way." he huffs when Jinki frowns at him, confused with the sudden formality. "If we're going to take this long trip together, we might as well go on with the introductions."
"O-okay." Jinki stammers, his fingers tingling when they come in contact with Kibum's. "I'm Lee Jinki."
They shake hands long enough for Jinki's palm to start faltering, so Kibum drops his hold, laughing as he takes in the man's befuddled expression.
"Um, Kibum." Jinki starts awkwardly after a few minutes of silence reigning over their supposed journey. "I really am sorry. F-for earlier. And no, you didn't look slutty or anything. It was just that--"
"I was at the wrong place at the wrong time." Kibum interjects, shaking his head as a small smile creeps onto his face. "It's okay, Jinki. It was a mistake. We all make mistakes."
Then he gazes out the window forlornly, his hands tucked neatly on his lap. And although Jinki sees that they're balled into fists, he doesn't say anything.
"Why would you hire a prostitute anyway?" Kibum asks, and Jinki winces, but he keeps his eyes on the road. "I mean, you seemed warm and approachable earlier. That's why I asked for a ride from you, right? Or am I just assuming things? Are you actually some horny guy who's not getting laid enough?"
"What?" Jinki feels his throat tighten, feeling utterly sick when such words could be directed at him with so much ease. "No, I'm not. I'm not some horny guy or... whatever. But yeah, I admit that I don't really get laid enough."
Or at all, he wants to add, but thinks better of it.
"Oh? Why's that?" Kibum cocks his head, giving Jinki a onceover. "You look decent enough. I'd bang you."
Jinki chokes, his hands wavering as Kibum's laughter ricochets off the car's interior surface.
"I'm actually really crude, Jinki." he says, his eyes crinkling as he brushes a strand of hair that had strayed away from his perfect fringe. "Sorry about that."
Jinki fakes a laugh and shakes it off, but nonetheless, he feels a twinge somewhere in his chest.
Did Kibum really mean those words?
After about an hour of passing by endless trees and makeshift shadows, Jinki's learned quite a number of things about Kibum.
Kim Kibum is nineteen years old ("I'm actually two years older than you." Jinki says, much to the younger man's chagrin), an aspiring idol in the entertainment industry and a guy broke from too much clubbing. He explained with a reddening face that his friends had left him in some club earlier that night, and that he had no choice but to wander around, all the while trying to hitch a ride.
"It's actually a good thing that you came along." Kibum says, eyes glinting in a pretty way as he smiles at Jinki. "I bet if someone else had come along and picked me up, thinking that I was for sale, I'd be sitting in some hotel bed with a sore ass right now."
Jinki feels his jaw clench in a frustrated manner at the thought, but he waves it off as he chuckles, mumbling something about being utterly ridiculous.
And all the while, Jinki finds himself opening up as well, his heart swelling with the idea of sharing a big chunk of himself to a complete stranger (or maybe not completely, Jinki thinks as he indulges in the tinkling of Kibum's laughter).
He tells Kibum that he's a daily office man with a strict 6 am to 6 pm schedule. He also tells Kibum about Jonghyun and that it was actually his suggestion, and not his own. And finally, he tells Kibum that he's never been in a serious relationship before, and that he's single and available. He knows he's being painfully obvious, but he suddenly feels a growing ache to see Kibum's reaction to that little piece of information.
His heart breaks just a little when a noncommittal shrug from Kibum comes as a response.
Finally, after about two hours of driving to no particular destination, Kibum tells Jinki to pull over. It's ridiculous how Jinki's heart aches when he realizes that they've already reached the farthest point.
"Well, this is it." Kibum says, although he makes no move to go anywhere.
Jinki looks around, but all he sees are trees and shadows.
"This is it?"
"Actually, my apartment's a little farther away, but I think I've bothered you long enough." Kibum's voice sounds like he's concluding something. Jinki sighs, smoothing his hands over the steering wheel. "Thanks, Lee Jinki. I owe you one."
Then Kibum turns to face him fully, his eyes glittering and his lips quirking up into a smile as he holds out his hand for Jinki to take. Jinki slowly takes the younger man's hand, then gently pulls him closer until their faces are mere inches apart.
"I like you." Jinki isn't really sure what he's doing, but all he knows is that his heart is filled to the brim with something he can't quite put his finger onto. All he knows is that he needs to let it all out before Kim Kibum completely disappears from his life. "I really like you, Kibum."
He leans in a little closer. Just a little more and he's finally brushing his lips against Kibum's--
"I don't kiss complete strangers." Kibum whispers, and Jinki feels his entire body deflate. He isn't really sure who pulls away first, but all he knows is that he's fucked it all up again, big time.
Shutting his eyes, Jinki waits for the resounding thud of the passenger door, but it doesn't come. Instead, he feels Kibum's lips softly brushing against his cheek.
"But for you, I made an exception."
Jinki feels his heart swell and overflow as he rubs a hand against his cheek. He smiles sheepishly at Kibum.
"I want to get to know you more." he says in perfect harmony with the funny feeling that's spreading through his skin. "And I want to start by getting your number."
Kibum's eyebrows shoot up in mild surprise, but in the end they both exchange numbers, promising to call each other back.
And before they finally go their separate ways, Kibum leans over to kiss the tip of Jinki's nose, smiling when he sees the pink tinge spreading from Jinki's nose to his cheeks.
"And for the record," Kibum says a bit shyly. "I really like you too, Jinki."
Jinki could only offer a wide smile as he made a mental note to ask Kibum out for dinner the very next day.
