(Re: Scissor Sisters - I work with someone who is really close friends with Ana Matronic, aka Ana Lynch. They worked at the second Starbucks franchise about ten years ago in Portland, OR, and when I went to their concert in Milwaukee in January, Rita came along with Crystal and me and WE GOT TO MEET THEM. ALL OF THEM. It was so awesome. They are fantastically down-to-earth people who were very, very tired of touring at that time. I was surprised at how generous they were with their time considering that they had to beat a snowstorm to get to Minneapolis for their show there the next night.)
I'm guessing many of the professors you're speaking of have since retired? My mom has some friends who attended Carleton during the time frame in which the story is set, and they definitely knew who many of the people were. Too bad LU has no such claim to fame, at least that I'm aware....

When I was there I think there were 3 or 4 obvious characters that were still working there, one of which was a professor emeritus. They've all retired (for good) since then.
Another strange thing - the campus has changed a lot since I graduated. I should reread Tam Lin and see if the campus is still recognizable.
