I love this post (And it's making miss playing as much as I did). And I miss hearing your playing (even if I haven't heard it in two (three??) years, I can still imagine! :) ) I'm so excited to keep following your career and maybe someday I can get together with the world's top flute player again. :)
Thanks for your response, Beth! It is hard to really dig into the whole solo vs. orchestral trained multipurpose auditions, but very true. I have to work on it all. Every once in a while, I lose my awareness and I am reminded how two sided it is! Random note: I'm playing the Lutoslawski Mala Suite tomorrow night, playing piccolo, and it reminds me of you, the first New Englands I went to, you and the orchestra played it :) Scary shit to start on for sure!! ahaha I hope you are doing well. No worries about the recital!
