I haven't had a good update in awhile.

The second half of July was spent working my normal job at Joes and then babysitting for Jenny and Charlie's kiddos Mason and Madeline. Lots of swimming, bike riding (holy cow! I hadn't ridden a bike in 15+ years!!), and fun! We went to the Musical Instrument Museum and the AZ Science Center. We did experiments with eggs and the mentos/coke thing (major fail, by the way). We ate. A lot. It was just a good summer for them (I hope!).

August 3rd was Katy Perry. Andrea and I had wanted to go ever since they announced the concert in, like, May. We procrastinated on tickets, so ended up having to risk it and do craigslist. Andrea found some from a lady who had bought them from someone else. Somehow I got section 301 in my head. I think those were the seats I had found (but the guy took over a week to respond...). We get to the venue, climb to heaven and find out that there is no row 13. We had been worried they were fake tickets, but once we were in the doors, we figured we were safe. Turns out yours truly is an idiot. I never looked at the actual tickets. And Andrea never said "hey kim, quit being a know it all". We were in section 3. Not 301. So we head down to row 13. Only to find out the first row of seats is 12. So, after the general admission pit, it was a row of people and then us. We were beyond shocked and really happy. It was a great surprise - nothing like thinking you're going to be sitting in the nosebleeds and then ending up so close! She put on a great show. The only thing that could have made it better is Snoop Dogg coming out during California Gurls. \

The Sunday after was Warped Tour. I'm getting old. The heat sucks. Also, some of the kids there weren't even alive when I went to my first warped tour. It wasn't THAT long ago! The only band I was totally set on seeing was Less Than Jake. So, like the old person I am, I waited until set times leaked online. They didn't play until 7! SOOO late! They were doing a signing at 4, so I was hoping to make that. Well, I got in the venue by 415. Rushed around to find their tent so I could have something for them to actually sign... Finally found the Kia tent and I see the line. It's way smaller than I thought it'd be - like maybe 30 people. Score! Yeah. Then I looked inside the tent, it was empty. I had to of missed it by a few minutes because it was barely after 430. I wandered a little, bought LTJ's dvd, bought myself a huge snow cone and sat in the amphitheare and listened to The Expendables (not bad), Family Force 5 or something (um, i'll just say bad), and then Middle Class Rut. I wish I had paid attention and realized it was them. By the time they played their radio show, it was the end of their set. Ally, a friend from work, showed up at 630. We wandered around the grounds and then caught LTJ. Roger wasn't there, so they didn't play the songs of the setlist that I had cheated and looked up online. Kinda bummed on that, but they still played a ton of good songs. Major giggly crush on Chris. Anyway, show was good, minus the crappy crowd. The band that closed out that stage had a different crowd than what LTJ usually pulls. They weren't as friendly as the normal crowd. And NO ONE on the side we were on was really into the show. It's so much more fun to sing along with fans than totally by yourself. Oh well. It was still lots of fun for me :)

Then this Friday, Kar and I headed down to Martini Ranch to see Kristopher Roe from The Ataris play acoustically. Kar and I had won tickets from The Edge/X103.9 (they will always be the edge...). He played a great set of older and newer stuff, including the newest stuff they'd just recorded. The new stuff sounds good - more like So Long, Astoria than Remember the Night. It was awesome :)

Today. Oh, today. I had a plan. It's been my first full day off in a long time. I had nothing planned besides tackling my room. It's turned into the dumping grounds for all of my stuff. It's been driving me insane, so I figured I better get going on it. Mom and Dad came out to help me put on a new programmable thermostat. I feel like such an old person saying that. Anyway, my dad started before I was ready, and next thing I know, wires are disconnected and we're into it. Got it all done only to find out "cool" made the heat turn on, and "heat" made cool air come out. After a lengthy phone call with "Mike" in India, we thought we had it fixed. He had us touching wires together and other crazy things. I should also mention it's 84 in the house at this point at noon because we turned off the a/c. So the cool air runs for over 30 minutes... and the temperature is now 86. SCORE! So we take off the new thermostat and put on the old one. And NOTHING happens. NOTHING. No air at all. At least the heat was better than nothing. After another call to my good friend "Mike", who can no longer help me because "it's not the system, it's the unit" dad calls his friend. He says "They told you to touch wires together?! You probably blew a 24-volt transformer in your air conditioner." YAY! So then it's time for a call to Chas Roberts. I was willing to pay for the weekend call rate. Just get out here and fix my very hot house, please. Oh, don't worry - their next appointment is August 15. She asks "8-12, 11-2, or 1-5?" Yeah, I work 7-7. So the pups and I are out at mom and dad's tonight, and Kar will be joining us tomorrow night. Don't worry, none of my plan worked out. I got absolutely 0% done that I wanted to.

The kicker? The Turd is in a relationship. Seriously?! You didn't want something serious but now you're dating someone? Guess I know now that you DID want something serious, it just wasn't with me. Kind of a bitter pill to swallow. There were so many mean things I wanted to post to his page today. But I played "being the bigger person" and didn't. Just sucks - you think you know someone, like, KNOW know someone and then they turn out to just be a complete asshole.

Kar and I are having sister's night tomorrow and going to see a bunch of bands I don't know at The Nile. Should be fun times. Then it's Hanson for her birthday, PWTs in October, Yellowcard in November... there are more in there, but I can't remember. My brain is mushy right now. Time for sleep!
