i was going to make a lemon meringue pie, as i am in a baking mood, have lemons and have always wanted to try.... but first i set fire to the pastry/baking paper in the oven - i'm talking FLAMES here... and then exploded the other pastry... and as i dont have to time or ingredients to make my own... i'm giving up ( Read more... )

I only ever manage smoking charcoal...

ps. no sleep for me tonight - NZ friend emailed about holiday plans & my brain won't stop working now. It'll be breakfast time in an hour or so...8-/

hehe, yeah, i know :) I have to admit that it was rather impressive to see flames speading along the whole rim of the pastry dish....

hehehe, i would be sympathetic about the whole 'no sleep' thing... but as its from holidays plans, you dont get any! :P ... or not very much anyway... *hands you coffee and a cookie*

hehehehe, that sounds fun!!! ... conversely, you were in year 10 and at camp, so its not making me feel that much better :P.... tim is trying to decide wether to ban me from the kitchen :P...

hehe, yeah, it was :) ...i made a mistake reading recipes (muddled up the types of pastry) and ended up putting baking paper over puff pastry in the oven. it caught fire, all around the edge at once, so it was rather impressive....
and yes, they are :) it's a really good recipe, easy to make and they turn out more like little cakes than cookies ... :D

Sounds even more yummy! The cookies/cakes, not the burning paper...

Apparently it'll snow again later this week. I hope it stays on the ground this time!

hehe, yeah, the burning paper turned into charred confetti wafting round my kitchen for a while.... and the boys ahve pretty much polished off teh cookies :P

oooh!!! that would be fun. you have to make a snowman if it does!!! :D
