I was innocently driving to work this morning when I had
another car accident. When I arrived at the end of the freeway exit, the traffic light was green, so I slowed down to make my left turn and proceeded into the intersection. Unfortunately, a car ran the red light from my left. I jammed on my brakes, and when she realized her mistake she swerved and accelerated, so we almost managed to evade each other, but I did clip her. My right front bumper hit her left rear bumper, and both were pretty much shredded. But neither of us were hurt. I had wondered what would happen if I got into another accident and had to brake hard, but I guess the impact was not severe enough to matter. It took about 15 minutes for Middletown PD to arrive, and when he did he told us it was state police jurisdiction, but he did help me pull my car off the road. Then it took about 30 minutes more for the state policeman to get there. The other driver was apologizing to me the whole time we were standing there. She said she usually turns right there, but realized she wanted to go straight this time after she was in the right lane. She got distracted because she was looking to her left to see if she could merge back into the straight lane, and forgot that only the right arrow was green. She was really kicking herself. The state policeman finally arrived, and said it was Middletown jurisdiction, but when we said Middletown had already been there, he was nice and wrote it up.
So I was about an hour late to work today.
