Password Rules

I work at a company where I have 6 different user IDs and passwords and the passwords need to be changed every 6 months. I've been trying to come up with a reason that it's safer to regularly change your password, but I can't. I can only come up with reasons it's worse ( Read more... )

You should check Mitto (http://mitto.com), an awesome online password manager. It's free and easy to use. And they are certified by McAfee and TRUSTe

my work passwords are the same. Fortunately it's easy to capitalize a letter and just remember which one it is for me (maybe not for you)

That's fucking ridiculous. At PC they changed their policy so it must be different than the previous 10 passwords, which is equally stupid.

The College of Engineering at URI has a better policy: run everyone's account passwords through a rainbow table, and disable the account/alert the user when it's an easily guessable password.
