Waking up to find the floor of my new place under 3 milimeters of water really sucks.

Actually, it really, really, really sucks.

Fortunately there is now a sump pump installed to suck out all the water so it won't happen again... but I still had to move everything out, dry the place out, and move everything back in.

will your landlords pay for any of your stuff that's damaged?

fortunately with the exception of a cardboard box nothing of mine was damaged. I managed to get everything out before the water level got too high, and got the bed out just before the water reached that area. The carpet got ruined, but that belongs to the landlord. I ended up just taking the carpet out. There is cement underneath, which isn't as nice, but which also won't get mildewy ( ... )

might be time to rent a new house!heh.
i went to oakland last night and played a Keythedral board game, got home ard midnight, and the dogs had knocked over my fuschia and maidenhair fern. the fern's pot was just decimated into a hundred plasticky pieces and i don't know if there's any foliage left. the fuschia fared better.
anyway it was fun to see danielle and paul and ash and micah but i am sooo sleeeepy today, i think i'll just go home tonight and take a nap next to my heater.
