As far as John was concerned, it felt damn good to be on both feet again without worrying about whether he'd be able to make the walk back to his hut in the evening. He still wasn't pushing himself by any means, but he could jog a little more, and was happily catching up on ITF training ( Read more... )

"Alice," she said, distinctly not leaning against one of the goals but standing equidistant between two them, hands behind her back and legs apart. Her mouth twisted at using the first name; she'd been very slightly tempted to simply assign the woman one, so that she wasn't always addressing her in an overly familiar manner. "She missed training. As far as I can tell, she doesn't have an injury to blame it on."

Sheppard may have attributed Lee's lead to the fact that he was coming off of an injury, but Lee was convinced that the score would have been the same, regardless. He tossed their makeshift pyramid ball into the air and caught it, frowning at Major Shaw's words.

"Do we have any idea why?" He asked, and could have kicked himself for not realizing at their last session that they'd been a person short.

John nodded when Kendra brought Alice up; he'd been thinking about it himself. While he hadn't personally felt there was anything more needed than an apology, which he got, that didn't really matter.

"I talked to her, and she chose to keep the reason to herself." At least, that was what John had gotten out of the conversation. He looked over at Kendra, feeling like his next question didn't even need to be asked. "Extra drills?"

"Extra drills," Kendra confirmed, speaking as if stating the blatantly obvious. "I'll cook up something special for her to do."

She almost sounded happy, or as close a facsimile as she ever managed.
