Invitations... Target has quite a few blank wedding invitations that you can print out yourself which is a lot cheaper than ordering them. You could also punch holes and put vellum on top and tie a ribbon. It looks really cute.

Centerpiece... You can construct these yourself as well. There are lots of options for these that you can do cheaply.

I agree with Stacey. There's a lot of options that are affordable AND classy! For the ivitations, just look for something simple and order it online. You don't need fancy save the dates or a lot of inserts. You can fit everything on one page

oooh is ur friend good? wut does he do at weddings? i'm trying to decide if i want to hire a decorator or not... :/ that's wut i get for a $3k hall...u spend like 2k decorating...shoulda went w/ a nice 5k hall...lol!
