I actually have none regarding the resurrection spell they have been using for the tournament. Like all things here, I would assume that it is just Avoria protecting those in it.

Is Avoria sentient, then, or at least heavily enchanted? I wonder if it would be possible to find a book on the subject, or better yet, the person who cast them - who is in control of these protections, do you know?

It is unknown just what Avoria is, or if anyone is in control of it. Worth looking into I'd say. The Library here is vast and there are a few who spend all their time reading in it, I would start by asking them.
