July 29th was a fun day. I'm gonna talk about 3.5 things that made it that way, in chronological order.
So normally my dreams are bizzare, but this one was only bizzare in the sense that it was EXTREMELY literal. The one thing about it was that I woke up from it feeling REALLY good. So what was it, you ask? So I was sitting at my computer on one of the days we weren't shooting for Troubadors, and I noticed that this girl that I'm hopelessly attracted to is signed onto AIM. I think to myself "hmm... usually it's me that IMs her, so I'll just sit here and see if she IMs me." And then, right as I was thinking how nice it would be to get a random IM from her, the IM window pops up, and it's from her! And it's a simple "hello, how are you?". There was no motivation for her IM other than her wanting to talk to me at that moment in time. It wasn't "hey check out this news article" or anything like that- it was completely unmotivated but for an interest in knowing how I was doing. I was flooded with this euphoric feeling, brought on by the idea that SHE ACTUALLY WANTED TO TALK TO ME FOR THE SAKE OF TALKING TO ME!. Man that was nice.
So because I had nothing better to do, and because she was going to be late if she took the bus, I drove one of the cast members for Troubadors down to the shooting location at around 12:30pm. That day we were shooting at the Berkeley Pier, and I didn't need to be there but I had to ask Danny a question anyway. Long story short, the crew wasn't there yet, and apparently they were gonna be a while. So we wandered around the Marina area for a while, and stumbled on to the awesomest fucking playground EVER. It was an insurance NIGHTMARE. There were playhouses/playstructures all over that had been fashioned (somewhat shoddily, but still solid enough for me to play around on them) out of old boats and plywood, and little kids running around with hammers and nails nailing wood to these playstructures, and other little kids running around with paint just painting stuff- they were supervised, of course, and parents had to sign release forms for their kids to come in (adults could wander in whenever), but it was SOO AWESOME. I think it had something to do with some Berkeley Adventure somethingorother. They also had this huge fishing net structure, and a zip-line that got going really fast and eventually slammed you into a huge pile of sand. It looked painful but hilarious (it didn't actually hurt at all though). This playground has seriously topped my list of potential date venues though.
So we had to shoot the interiors of Morgan's Apartment on the 29th. The 29th is also Blake's birthday (Blake plays Morgan). Anyway, we (the cast and crew sans Blake) arranged earlier for Jim to "go run an errand" (which he usually does anyway, so nothing new there) and go pick up a b-day cake for Blake, since we were shooting on his birthday. I think part of what made this so fun is that it was an ice cream cake that we had to get into the freezer without Blake seeing, and we all did it in such a way as to make it virtually impossible to guess that anything was going on at all. In fact, not a single person wished him a happy birthday until we actually brought the cake out of the kitchen with the candle "22" and sang- he was genuinely surprised and it's not often that people do goofy things like that for a 22 year-old boy's birthday. I dunno, I just thought it was cool.
so that was the July 29th hilarity. If you read the whole entry, props.
