Wedding/new suit

So, on the 24th of October, my step-brother is getting married. This isn't what's concerning me though. I'm actually trying to find a new suit or outfit to wear for this. Being a bit of a lanky fellow and it being October, I was thinking of a nice, dark brown (you may also call this color "chocolate"). A white shirt and a plum tie would seal the ( Read more... )

the main reason i would avoid getting a chocolate suit is that if you wear it outdoors, dogs will chase you and if you are not light on your feet or if your lankiness prevents you from enjoying the coordination of wider people closer to the ground, the dogs could bite your clothes, leading to your suit being ruined, money wasted, and the possible death of these animals. chocolate is poison to dogs, and they have no self control. i'm not saying you should worry about this last part too much as you are not your brother's keeper and even if you are, you are certainly not a brother to dogs, or even a stepbrother. unless you are in which case i apologize, and wish your dogbrother congratulations.

buying a thrifted suit and getting it tailored has worked for me in the past.

See, my brother told me it wouldn't look right for me, but that throngs of women would come after me wanting to take a bite out of my sleeves, etc. Needless to say this possibility sounded like a cool thing. I totally forgot though to bring dogs into the equation; the women would be tripping over the dogs and then they'd hate me afterwords for inadvertently poisoning them. I don't want a riot of females thinking that I'm a dog killer who uses tricks like a chocolate suit.

I always do my best to buy thrifted suits. It's the only practical way to roll, really.

Brown suits always remind me of depressing fading photos of family weddings in the 60s or 70s.

Men often don't realize the folly of pleated pants or out-of-date button alignment on their suit jackets. Whatever you go with, DO NOT wear pleated pants or a suit jacket with the first top button landing only slightly above your navel. Go with something classic.

Go black, charcoal grey, or pinstriped (navy if you're running for office or very pale). Let your choice of tie and/or shirt provide the personality to the ensemble.

I already have plenty of black. I'm trying for variety with the brown. I'm sorry that it's making you think of depressing family weddings, though.

I actually have a navy pinstriped suit, it's a three-piece that doesn't look dated and I'm often complimented on it. Again though, I want something new/different.

Grey bores the hell out of me.
