Heroes volume 3, chapter 10

Here's my report about volume 3, chapter 10 -

Chapter 10 -

I’m worried. I’m worried about Elle and Gabriel, more so Elle I think, because Kristen Bell hasn’t been made a full cast member yet. But I don’t want either of them to get killed. But things do not look good for either of them with Mr. Bennet getting ready to fire, and obviously he isn’t happy with either of them at this point.

Going back to the earlier parts of the show -
I so didn’t get the scene at the car dealer’s with Gabriel and Elle. It seemed OOC for them to be against being heroes when both of them have expressed a desire to be a hero at different points, and they just had that therapy session of sorts in the previous episode where they both came to terms with forgiveness and wanting to be/being good people. That characterization of them worries me a little too. Though I felt like by the end of the episode they were both acting more like themselves.

Gabriel’s description of his numbed feelings since the hunger - feeling like he had cotton balls and ice in his head, is something that has stuck with me for some reason. It’s like I somehow connected with it, but I don’t really know why. I liked that he felt some freedom when his powers went away this time, unlike when he lost them due to the virus last volume. And of course I was all for the making out.

The earlier bit with Gabriel and Elle before they left Pinehurst seemed like they were still in character too. I’m just not sure what happened in the middle. Maybe they were using a different writer?

I have to admit now that I do like Angela better than Tracey, and I’m kind of expecting the two of them to get into a fight before this volume is over.

On the subject of Tracey, does anyone else think that Barbra will not show up this volume and is in fact being used as a backup plan for if Tracey is killed off, so that they can still keep Ali Larter around?

I thought that the Bennet family interactions were well done. What a strange event, Claire being shot and being somewhat glad that she was in pain because she didn’t think she would ever feel anything again. I’m glad that she and Mr. Bennet are on better terms, but things don’t look well for her. Mr. Bennet shouldn’t have left her at home. But you wouldn’t really expect anything else of him given that he has a chance at killing Gabriel without the healing factor. I really hope that doesn’t happen though.

I’m betting that people’s powers will return after the eclipse is over. I don’t know how long something like that takes, but since this episode is part one of two, maybe the eclipse will be over by the end of the next episode?

How exactly did Mohinder lose all his clothes in the cocoon? Was this just fan service? I mean, Maya didn’t lose her clothes when she was cocooned. I hope that this eclipse thing will actually have cured Mohinder though, even if other people’s powers are returned to them. I miss his old self.

I thought that they handled Hiro’s thinking he’s 10 better in this episode. It was adorable when he was nodding with the turtle. And like I said in the previous report, I think that it’s fun to have Ando having a more important part to play.

Loved Matt trying to influence Daphne’s father without his powers. It was great when Daphne’s dad was like, “why are you tilting your head sideways?” or whatever it was he said.

I did not expect Daphne was crippled. I had been wondering what she was so afraid of going back to, but that situation had never crossed my mind. I wonder if Arthur gave her her powers, or how her powers manifested. I assume it was after she was crippled, but maybe not. Maybe that’s why Linderman was appearing to her too? Because Linderman/Maury had promised her healing? I don’t know.

The Haitian’s brother isn’t a likeable guy so far. Hopefully Nathan ad Peter will be able to stop fighting and get out of that situation all right. Apparently I had read a spoiler about the Haitian having a brother who was going to be a villain this season, but I totally forgot about that. My brother remembered, however. This has happened with other things too, like Neon Genesis Evangalian. I learned a big spoiler about that series before we started watching it, or when we were just starting to watch it, and I completely forgot about it and was surprised when it got to that point, but my brother remembered what I had told him about the spoiler.

Anyway, should be interesting with Hiro and Ando at the comic book shop. How cool (or freaky) would that be to work in a comic shop and then have two guys walk in and enact the pages from a comic book?
