Cloverfield is 40 minutes too long

I can't believe all the praise Cloverfield is getting. The characters sucked, the monster sucked, the way it was shot sucked, the plot sucked, the supposed comic relief sucked...I felt like I could relate more to the monster (whose big scary thing was it could breathe through its eyes?) than the stupid fucking lame-ass, one dimensional characters ( Read more... )

this is such a polarizing movie! stu andrew and i went to see it last night and we all enjoyed it. but people sitting around us definitely got up and left at various points in it. this cracked out girl in front of us would alternate between making out with her bald boyfriend and speaking really loudly about how much she hated the movie.

in hindsight there was way too much hype leading up to its release. i only saw the one trailer and none of the tv commercials, so i went in not really expecting anything and maybe that's why i didn't mind it.

Go watch The Host! That's the best monster movie in the history of monster movies.

I guess the viral marketing got me too excited for Cloverfield. There's not one thing I can say I enjoyed about it...aside from when the end credits started rolling.

The real question is why were you even in a theatre seeing Stealth?

We thought it was going to be one of those hilairously funny bad movies which would even be more enjoyable while high. But, no, it was just really, really horrible and we all regretted our decision to go see it about 15 minutes in. We ended up sneaking into the Fantastic 4 movie...which was just as bad.
