I love watching films that just make you forget about all your worries and totally transport you away...
I mean, I love the heavy stuff too, but sometimes it's cool just not to think and let the nostalgia and emotion wash over you. I love that feeling afterwards...

i love this feeling also but i get it from the 'golden age'of movies where the actors are so wooden and simple. give me katharine hepburn in 'holiday' or the ghost and mrs. muir. or even annie get your gun and seven brides for seven brothers

Cat Ballou is one of those "studio" films that does it for me... though it was very near the end of the top 5 heyday...

Frank Lloyd's "Oliver Twist" is another one... creepy... but I can remember my parents making me watch it as a kid, them thinking they'd got the 1948 musical version out for me to watch, they were a bit shocked at how dark it was when they finally realised, but I was half-way through it and had to finish it... I can remember liking it more than watching an 8 year old boy mime to an old woman singing...
