Technically, you didn't use either of the semicolons right, but I won't judge you for it... that much.

Queen's English or American English semi-colons?

Semicolons are used in place of periods, therefore, whatever's on both sides of it have to be able to stand alone as sentences of their own. I don't know that the British rule is any different.
