Spoilers ahead for those who have not watched these awesome shows!

i watched this last Saturday with frack at Pyramid XDD

Leonidas! he's the most awesome character ever! not really, no but what the heck! i'm half in love with him
and his wife! she's sooo yeng! like who would do that for anyone, really?
seriously, their acting skills are to be applauded. for real face!
Battle formations! i have nvr seen such co-ordinated formations ever!
and of course there was the scene where Leonidas' captain's son was killed. the special effects were so real! i was horrified but it's the kind where you can't look away O_O
Xerxes! his piercings! must hurt! and i'm abusing my exclamation marks! look i know how to use strikeout! aren't you proud of me, frack?
and the most pitiful character.. the hunchback whose name i can't remember
the Glory of history!
and yes, frack, my roman/greek/history fetish is satisfied for the moment! anyone watched Alexander?

this i watched at midvalley with my course mates on monday

it's in Spanish! don't let the advertisements fool you! it is not a fairytale, neither is it a harry potter type of fantasy movie. the plot is carefully planned, and executed. Well done to the director!
it tells of the Spanish Revolution (i think) around the 1940's.
the current government is trying to wipe out the guerrillas. Ofelia is the main-character. her stepfather is a captain at one of the posts. the story involves the death of many characters, including Ofelia's mother. you don't actually know whether the fairies and faun are the product of Ofelia's imagination until the final minutes of the movie. through her imagination, she's able to escape the reality of war and cruelty (from her stepfather). but her imagination is not a safe and innocent place either. there's a baby-eating cannibal (the coolest character!), gigantic frogs, mandrake roots. basically, no place for a child at all!.
this movie makes me think about the overall effect of war on innocent lives. very touching and deserves a repeat viewing!

my reviews are not very coherent but ya. i didn't actually give out many details or the ending but if you have a chance, go watch these two movies! i promise you won't regret it :D
