 Sometimes I get a kick out of the things I read in my human sexuality textbook:

"Aging gay men and lesbian women face a double stereotype: They are old and gay.  But like other stereotypes of aging Americans, this one reflects myths rather than realities."

That's the entire paragraph.  This makes me laugh for two reasons, first because of the

it's a myth. you actually have to choose between the two, once you reach age 60.
