I have never had problems with my trash until I moved in with A. now, there are times when the trash guys simply will not take our trash. This week, for the third week in a row, they didn't take it so A called to find out why. It's b/c they trash guys will not take any cardboard of any kind. We have cats. We kindly put all our cat poop in HEB bags and then put those bags into old litter buckets. It's good recycling and it keeps the trash guys from having to actually handle the stuff.
Only for the first few weeks, they refused to take the litter buckets.
So my lovely boyfriend started emptying the bags directly into the trash can so the trash guys had to directly confront our smelly kitty shit. That lasted exactly one week. Now they take the litter buckets without bitching.
