The Verdugo doesn't get him. Except its claw catches the back of his robe. The momentum throws him off his feet. His robe rips, and he falls back to the ground, the blue line tattoo'd down his back revealed for a moment. The next movement, he's rolling, and just after, he's rushing onto his feet again.
There isn't time to think. With wide eyes, he's stumbling away again.]
River! Run!

[No time anymore. She launches herself at the exoskeleton, hands and feet finding purchase on the ridges of the back of its armor. The gun goes off again, and again. The tail is rearing up but she sees it without looking, and she is stepping up on the shoulder, and off.
The creature's sharp tail jabs itself in the spot where she just was, and it shrieks with anger and pain. River is soaring across the air in front of it - grand jeté - before twisting and landing crouched.
Bang, bang, bang.]
