What it's like to be Midgendered

1) Before I was born, my parents had blood/fluid/etc tests done on me, as one does with a child. They were told I was a girl, so they decided I would be named Catherine ( Read more... )

I'm actually glad you shared this because I really didn't know much about the subject. Growing up sexually confused seems to be a common furry experience (including my own), so perhaps furs try to tack it onto your experience er something.

Sorry to hear about the pain you had to grow up with, but thank you for sharing your experience. *hug*

I like to educate because noone else does. Unlike gays or transgenders, we don't have parades, or pride flags. Noone fights for midgender rights...so, I speak out, trying to put words to what people only know in part or as "myth".

It's bad to have people tell you that you don't have the right to be who you are. It's worse when they don't even acknowledge you exist.

Do you want parades and flags?

Oh, and for all those of the single gender who think they've "had it bad" being a boy or a girl, I don't wanna hear how you "understand". Until you've known the absolute living hell of being a woman growing up treated as a man, you'll never know what it's like to feel that kind of soul-wrenching pain.

I understand. Not quite in the same way you do... but I understand.

*hugs tight* you know you're like a sister to me, right?

Thank you...I'm so glad people appreciate me telling the real stories of myself and other inbetweeners like me. I think the support of women is most important to me, for many reasons.

I guess it's one of those things where, if I have to endure cramps and mood swings every month, be prone to bouts of emotional hypersensitivity, and have to wear women's jeans...then by god, I've earned the right to be called "she" if I want to be. :)

You'll also need to watch for things like low thyroid and that you're getting enough calcium. And later you'll get to have the infinite fun of menopause.

I may have been born and raised a woman, but I find men's jeans fit better. Too much gut.

But...tummy is cute! ^_^

I seem to be good on calcium, but a little extra never hurts. I am so not looking forward to menopause...I've heard stories... :P

:/ gosh it has to suck to be forced to live a way you don't feel. I appreciate so much more having semi liberalish partents... o: but it's good that you've reached a point of independence where you can express yourself and stuff.

I should add the term "condition" is just a generic noun for a state of things, though, even when taken on context it can be misused as "disease".
Sort of like "the human condition"

I still hate the word "condition". It's hardly an aberration when I can meet 3 other people like me in the same general area just by happenstance. Nature's trying to force a third gender in, in larger numbers than ever, and humanity refuses to acknowledge it as anything but a fluke. :/

Most of the rest of the world calls it 'intersex' and at least recognize that lots of folk are of that gender, rather than one of the other two.

I've heard that India actually accepts it openly. Too bad I live in the perpetually daft country of America. :/
