Arthur is stiff and stand offish, but it's obvious he and Merlin belong together. The way their magic merged is promising and the two work well as a team. Merlin's ideas of connecting the magic to its natural source and using that to fuel the city is sound, but how they're going to accomplish that is anybody's guess.
The tense encounter with Nimueh was jarring. She's confident of her own superiority, but Merlin's dismissal of her proposal must have shaken her. She's used to getting her own way and obviously won't hesitate using violence and subterfuge to get Merlin. I hope he and Arthur aren't caught underestimating her power.
That encounter with Uther was telling. He looks down on his son, disregarding his ideas and suggestions. When he and Merlin stand against the status quo, Uther will probably laugh in their faces. I'm looking forward to the confrontation.
