Ooo, I really like this. I love the colorings, and how surprised the woman soldier appears to be. Kimbley's smile is creepy, compared to the warm coloring in the illustration!

Thank you so much! Pulling off an attractive color job was an important part of this to me. I was a little nervous it wouldn't turn out on the first try, but it did!

In the manga Kimblee is often shown blowing things up at more of a distance, so I thought the soldiers accompanying him might not be accustomed to seeing this particular sort of carnage up close.

The male soldier, who ended up mostly obscured, is based on the man shown pointing out the bodies of the Rockbells to Kimblee in the manga. The woman is (Second Lieutenant) Jenny Hart, who's appeared in a few of my Ishval era fics about Kimblee as an outside perspective to the madness. Her wide eyes in the initial sketch were one of the things that made me really like it.

Yes, I can understand that worry.

And that's a very good point. Kimblee is a distance weapon.

I thought that be your character! I'm glad to know other people's headcanon people show up in various pieces.

It was one of those, "Ack, I'm too scared to color on the original!" moments, ha ha.

:D Yeah, I always like to give the side characters I think up a chance to appear again! I actually drew a little comic about Jenny once. I think it was about 4 pages... I even tried to color it. Maybe I should dig it up and try to touch it up and post it.

Ooh I love your linework, and how the light from the explosion is reflecting on him!
Also your little thinking scribbles are cute c:

Thank you! I feel like I have a tendency to hold back when it comes to light and shadows in my art, but I was able to relax and be bold with them here.

Hee hee :D

I enjoyed the process and the sketches. Kimblee is such a cool bastard.

Thank you! As I worked on each step of the illustration I felt like there was some kind of story here. Ha ha, I think so too.

:D Love it! Your style is very attractive, and I like how vibrant your colouring is. I also like the person in the background looking all concerned, heh. No need to draw anything else, this is quite lovely.

It's also pretty neat that you included some progress shots and doodles (which are cute.)

Thank you! :D I'm so happy that you like it! I make a lot of black and white artwork (sometimes because that's what I want and other times because I'm too lazy to color it, oops), but a well-colored piece really has a special zing to it.

I thought they were sort of interesting, especially since I don't usually have such a large pen sketch to compare with the later stages of art (if I do make one while testing compositions it's usually small), and the doodles sort of made me laugh (I draw a lot of silly little things like that, so if you're interested in seeing more, just browse my journal).

I really liked this a lot. I love the glow of the explosion reflecting back on Kimbley's clothing and I love his expression (and the blood smear)

Thank you! I had initially considered having some red in the overall lighting of the picture, but decided to save that for the blood.
