Today was the second day of the summer session at school, and I have now been to all my classes once. It might first seem as though after just one class period I wouldn't have much idea about wot the next 6 weeks would hold in store for me, but when class is 2.5 hours long, you go through quite a lot in one day ( Read more... )

I believe that in most normal everyday situations, straight up ordering for a girl (or even a girl ordering for a guy) without asking is rude. Even more disturbing, it's a sign of a person who is a control freak or has some type of control or ego problem. Now, that said, there are circumstances where this sort of thing can be very romantic. For example, if a couple has been together for a very long time and a guy can be very sure that that is what she would order, then to order for her is sweet. Also, as V$ said, if he asks what you would like to have and then says "the lady will have...", that is hot as hell. But don't take my word for it.

Foreign restaurants, or foreknowledge of what the lady's tastes may be or particular dishes she would be inclined to eat is acceptable. If the woman says "order for me, I have no idea what to have," then it's acceptable. It depends on the relationship, also. If the woman is comfortable with it, then it's acceptable. I also think that asking the date "may I order for you" is better taste.

I'm not entirely against the idea, however, I voted "yes" mainly because ordering for someone else is a "depends on the scenario" thing. If it was an understandable scenario, I would say no.

So long as a guy knows my tastes, and knows what I can't eat... He can order for me, so long as he's paying. If we're dutch, I wanna pick my own meal. :)
