i had some questions and i figured you might be a good person to ask. sorry to do it through livejournal but its not like i really get the chance to ask you in person. ;)

i wanted to ask you about getting on at 88.5. do you have to have a certain number of credit hours to get involved? if so, is there anything dealing with 88.5 that someone without the required credit hours (which i'm guessing you do have to have) could get involved in? and lastly, exactly how hard is it to actually get on the air?

any info would be mucho appreciated.

=)

You have to be currently enrolled, and you have to complete one semester to work at the station so you can establish a GPA. That applies for pretty much every position at the station - DJs, newscasters, etc. Even things like the newspaper staff and so forth have the same GPA requirement as well. It is really more of a University policy than a staion one.

It's really not hard to start working at the station though. The main things are being there when you say you will no matter wot happens, and just being really responsible and taking it seriously. The people who end up on the air are the ones who put forth the most effort, and do wot needs to be done. If you are interested, you should go to the information meeting when the application window opens up.

If you have more questions just ask. I am happy to answer :)

I usually announce on my own journal and the gsu community when the windows open up. I will take down your email and send you something too though.

A mastery of DOS commands and a 56k modem are just about all one needs to crawl the underbelly of the internet.
