Roy Montgomery (and related projects)
Toulouse
International Harvester
Lizzy Mercier Descloux
Xex (most recently)

well, let's see. the number of things they've spurred my interest in is far greater than the amount of stuff i've actually gone out and "explorated" (ie: purchased a CD, etc) as of yet. but, so far:

Hala Strana (which also sparked interest in related projects of Jewelled Antler folks / Steven R. Smith)
Black Forest/Black Sea
Darius Milhaud

and they're always playing stuff which i've heard about and want to investigate, which is quite helpful really. bless you FMU.

One of my favorite musical discoveries was a Vietnam-era recording of my local high school, Canarsie High, singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
