Getting a root canal is no fun at all. I think it's more in the anticipation of the thing that gets me more than anything.

Once I got to the dentist place I was a bit less nervous. Nice and big and airconditioned and professional. The dentist did a quick sketch of what he would do that almost turned my stomach. He put the aenesthetic in and for a ( Read more... )

I don't remember if I suggested this before, but if you're at all interested in seeing the elephants it is so much nicer in Kanchanaburi. You can also go rafting down the river kawi, which is beautiful. You can even jump off the raft and let the current take you along if you're so inclined. It was the cleanest, most beautiful river I saw in Thailand. We stayed on a floating house on the river at VN Guesthouse. Was really nice. I really loved Kanchanaburi, so relaxed. The tourist area is behind the cemetary ( ... )

Le Big Pierre has also heartily recommended Kanchanaburi to me and it sounds like a real neat place.

I shall be sure to pop in by the loud guy and say hello.

Thanks all for you wishes of dental recovery... it's not hurting now, even without the painkillers and in a few days I gets me a new crown! then its on to the few other niggling mouth issues I have and then I can get on with my holiday.

In one of the many lanewa stalls, I found one of the frogs, only the size of a football. I considered buying it and chasing those poor women down the street but ive not been here that long and im not so mean. An entertaining thought, however.

Dear Sarah... you smell a bit liek bums and wees but I liek you anyway too ;)

Give it another week and you'll be jaded and mean ;). You wanna tuk tuk? Where you going? 100 baht.

I'm not so sure about the painkillers over there.. Lucas and I got some 'paracetamol' that knocked me clean out on the overnight train to Chiang Mai! (Oh yeah, book your train ticket at least a day ahead or you wont get a sleeper, if you intend to travel that way.. no sleeper = no fun - learn't that one the hard way)

"Tuk Tuk, Mai Mai" is my new favourite phrase.

Yeah... 500mg paracetamol. The dentist gave me when I had the work done. "Just come back if you need more. Work like a charm but I don't really need them now. They're in my bag for just in case ;)

Thanks for the advice. I'm heading to Kanchanaburi for the weekend and it's only 4 hours. I will definitely head down to the Thonburi and organise a ticket beforehand.
