Yes I've finally been lured to the darkside and got my own blogg. The Greenie in me has been released in the form of a pyscho squirrel. The impetus of this was our recent trip to China, the holiday was fantastic, the history was great, the food was incredible and the people were really friendly. Good on ya!
I'v always dreamd of going solar/wind
(might be easier if i ownd my own home).
I didn't realise th price tag is below 20k,
that's quite reasonable isn't it?
You could make that back in not too many years.
Tho, my power needs'd be a littl higher than 1.8 kW :)

That's a potential output of 1.8KW per hour. It should cover our power requirements, we average 12 units per day. 1.6KW is supposed to do the average home. We live on a bit of a hill so we figure solar plus wind is a good combination. The really nice thing is that with the "smartpower" meters which have different taffifs for different times of the day, we could be covering our own power needs and making money. We will be drawing power from the grid during the low cost periods (night, weekends) and feeding it back into the grid during high cost periods (during week days). All it takes is a conscious effort to move your power usage by putting the things you can off until overnight, like washing machines, dish washers, tumble dryers.
It's all a very exciting project and essentially a test run for when we build down the farm.
