One of the articles we discussed today dealt with descrimination within the black community. Namely, those with lighter skin receive more favorable treatment than those with dark skin. Those with lighter skin are actually seen as more beautiful, among various other benefits. Is there anything more perplexing than standards of beauty. I thought ( Read more... )

I think the ideal is to be in the middle or something.
As far as black people wanting to be lighter skin color, I remember seeing a show or reading an article about Africans wanting to be lighter so much so that they would apply chemicals to their skin to lighten themselves. I think discrimination in Africa played a part in this desire to be light within Africa. I wonder if that is true to an extent here in America as well. I dunno...I'm just rambling...
