A special investigator just contacted me about my pending career change. He needs to come to my place of work and verify my employment information with my immediate supervisor (as well as with another colleague). As many awkward situations as I’ve experienced, I’m surprised that I’m not used to them by now. This is worse than that time I locked

I think the best way to do this would be to talk to your boss about what your goals are for your career and tell your boss about the position you applied for. Tell them that you want to stay on with them until you hear about this other job and maybe would like some tips on improving your skills or something. Maybe that's not the best way to do it, but I think that's how I would do it. Good luck!
