I have that problem too. People come into the store and say "I no speak Swedish" (or English for that matter, just translating for ya love ;)) and it's like, how are you supposed to help someone when you can't communicate? It makes me sad. But what makes me upset is that they seem to get pissed when they feel like they are not getting any help.
Rule number 1: help yourself. Learn the fucking language of the fucking country you live in. Or - learn English. Everyone knows it.
Rule number 2: if you are an elderly person, bring some relatives that can speak for you or translate.
Rule number 3: buy your things online instead and stop taking up my time where I could help other people instead. >_<

Sorry for the bitterness, but I feel better now. :)

I would hate to have to learn english as a second language. ;_____; it's... bizarre. No patterns. How did you learn english? From parents? Just in general usage, like you learned it at the same time as swedish? Or was it offered when you were in school?

Just curious. :3 I'm hoping to study languages when I go back to school.

Of course it's offered to us at school. :) I'd be surprised if there is a country where it isn't. O_o I feel sorry for any Swede who doesn't know English - well, that is. It's our second language. We come across English very early in our lives, we don't dub English programs like most of Europe do. I started to learn English for real in fourth grade, and I guess things are still the same, but kids nowadays know lots of English even before then. And also - the internet. Huge impact. :) I love English. ^_^ But I love my Swedish too. :)

That is a very cool photo! :D Me likes!

We start French in grade 4, too, but I don't think Canadian kids are nearly as exposed to it as you guys must be to English. We're given the choice after about grade 9 if we want to continue to learn it or not.. and there's a big separation between French-Canada and the rest of us, even online.. Kind of sad.. 3:
