Character: Izanami
Fandom: Persona 4
Character Notes:
History: Just an fyi, using both mythology and actual canon for the history. Also a warning, this starts out really serious, then gets horrendously cracky.

Izanami was summoned, along with Izanagi, by two previous gods by the name of Kunitokotachi and Amenominakanushi. These two were placed upon Earth to create lands there, using a special spear forged by the gods. Both Izanagi and Izanami happily went about their way, making these lands, and creating them as places to live. On one such island, the two erected a pillar that they called the "Pillar of Heaven", and it was around this pillar they "met, introduced," and then were wed. Ironically, Izanami went and introduced herself first, and that caused the marriage to not work. However, when it was redone, Izanagi introduced himself first, and the marriage was renewed and worked well.

Over the centuries, Izanami bore children, and these became different deities in the Shinto religion. After giving birth to the fire child, Kagu-Tsuchi, she died due to the terrible burns. Izanagi was so outraged by her death, he killed the child and went after his lover, who resided now in Yomi, the land of the dead. It was there, after many days of searching, that he found her, and despite his pleas for her to return with him to the surface, she would not go. She had eaten the fruit of the land, and therefore could no longer return to be among the living.

All this time, she was encased within a cluster of fog, so Izanagi couldn't see what had become of her. When she went to sleep, he took the comb in his hair and lit it as a torch- only to find his wife's body completely rotting, having several new limbs, and full of disease and corruption. Fleeing for his life, he abandoned her and left for the surface world. But Izanami had seen him look at her, and with a screech, demanded the foul creatures of the land to bring him back. The chase led on, hundreds of the dead scrambling for the god and husband of a deranged and deluded goddess and wife.

Upon reaching the surface, Izanagi shoved a boulder over the entrance to Yomi, therefore sealing it eternally so that Izanami could never reach him. Furious and seething, she cursed him, telling the god that if he were to abandon her, she would kill 1,000 of his people every day. In retaliation, the god told her that he would give birth to 1,500.

Thousands of years later, Izanami found a way to escape the clutches of Yomi, and created the TV world to reside in. Curious about the nature and life of mankind, she took the form of a human, and chose to live among the residents in Yasoinaba. Working at a local Moel gas station, she disguised herself as a boy, and was able to meet nearly everyone who came to town or lived there.

It was here that she met Adachi, Namatame, and Souji, and gave them all a handshake to welcome them to the town. In doing so, she transferred a part of her power to them because they were the ones "who had potential." Before this, she had told others about the Midnight Channel, and spread the rumors about it being a way to see your soulmate. Through this way, she was able to see what mankind desired, and how their true nature was.

She watched the murders and case unfold in Inaba without ever lifting a finger to interfere, and didn't even retaliate when Ameno-sagiri (which was only a fraction of her) was destroyed. She stayed perfectly quiet until the day before Souji had to leave for the city again. Him being as amazing as he was, thought something was off, and confronted her about it.

This took her by surprise. He was a human, after all- how could he have known she was the cause for everything. Nevertheless, it was amusing to her, but as he told her to leave and why he wanted her to go, she grew upset with him, insisting he "played your part, and yet you still are not satisfied?" His reasoning to find the truth only further makes her upset, and she tells him that she'll be waiting for him and his friends at her home, Yomotsu Hirasaka (ironically, this is the same name as the mouth of the cavern which was the entrance to Yomi. Yes, the same one Izanagi closed with the boulder). They go through all the levels, be badass, confront her, and go through about 6 bajillion stages for the fight, finally revealing her in her full goddess form. Throughout this entire thing, she keeps asking as to why they wish to struggle to find the truth. To suffer, be put through pain, when it would just be easier to live behind the lies they believe to be the truth? She doesn't understand- most of humanity wants what she was going to give them- a world enshrouded in fog, to let humanity choose to live as Shadows, so they would never have to suffer or feel pain again, or be afraid of the truth.

Finally, she gets pissed off, says "FUCK THIS" and just Thousand Curses EVERYONE. Which means basically sucking you into the ground and crushing your very soul from existence. That does the job, all the players disappear, and she gets all happy honky dory. No more meddling kids, right? The world is hers to fulfill man's desire.

But because Souji has so many bonds, he survives and stands up, and his main Persona Izanagi, becomes Izanagi-no-Okami. Ohohohohohoh we are so clever in naming things- *bricked* He breaks free, decides to be even more badass, calls upon Izanagi-no-Okami, and fires Myriad Truths. Which pretty much pwns the shit out of Izanami and wipes her from existence in her own world. Before she disappears, she tells the group that humanity's fate and happiness now rests in their hands, and congratulates them for defeating her.

Personality: Izanami, first and foremost, is a cold-hearted bitch. She is relentless, unforgiving, and downright evil (if looked at through one perspective). It's mainly due to delusion, however, and the fact that she's been relying on not the best kind of examples for people to show her how humanity is.

While in disguise, she talks just like any other person would. "Hey, what's up? How're you? Need me to fill your car for you, sir?" As a boy, she knows it's easier to get closer to a lot more people than if she were to just present herself as who she was. Being a Moel attendant, she's friendly, casual, and curious, oftentimes just offering service with a smile and some friendly sayings to go with it. She passes along the rumors of the Midnight Channel as well, to gain people's interest and to see what humanity really desires.

As a goddess, however- her tone is formal, demanding, and it belittles anything human or mortal. As she doesn't expect them to understand what she has come to figure out about humanity, she can't really care to see whether man really wants this or not- she's deluded by the things Adachi, Namatame, and all the rest of the people watching the Midnight Channel have shown to her about themselves. She is harsh, cold, and believes that her way is the only right way, since she is, after all, only striving to make mortals happy. Hence why, after her defeat, she leaves after a congratulations, as she finally understands why it is so important for them to go through the pain and the struggle in their search for truth.

Other: During her disguised self on the comm, she'll be under a different username and go by the name of "Shin Mikami". Only after the reveal will the true username and her actual name be revealed. Also, because she is a goddess, fourth-walling will be imminent, so I will be putting a post up asking for permissions, ffffffffff.
