beautiful! never tried aquatint. is it difficult?

Aquatints can be very tricky. The one on this plate is actually a very bad aquatint.

Traditionally, aquatints are done by placing finely ground rosin in a box with a fan, blowing it around, and then putting your copper plate in the box and letting the rosin fall evenly on to the plate. Then you heat the plate to let the rosin melt on, then etch the plate. Sorry if this is too much information or you already know all this.

Then some people use spray paint by misting it on to the plate, letting it dry and etching. I decide to try using paint for this plate, but it came out very blotchy. That's why it looks so grainy. It works alright with the print, but technically it is pretty bad. A good aquatint, however, can be extremely gratifying.
