He'll just keep looking at me like "whut" while being sprayed in the face with water. And then keep scratching.
I'm pretty sure he's a demon in a cat's body, rather than an actual cat. It's a good thing he's cuddly, or I'd have turned him into mittens after that one.
I am so terrified of the cats clawing up the leather coaches in the place we are spending the month in. I think about it all the time. As if somehow my constant mental vigilance will make them not claw up the couches while I am at work. I really don't know how to protect this from happening.....
I've had semi-decent luck with putting towels/blankets/whatnot over the edges of where I don't want them to scratch... it's a temporary fix, mind, 'cause as soon as they slip off the couch is fair game, but you're only there temporarily, it might be worth it, if only for your peace of mind?
Dumb question, perhaps, but you do have scratchers for them, otherwise?
And, I have the same problem. I have scratchers all over, and the cats do use them, but now and again, one of them will want to strop a piece of furniture. Gah!
Here's my follow-up dumb question: are your scratchers horizontal (on the floor), or are they vertical (posts or ones that hang from door knobs)? Because some cats are horizontal scratchers, and others are veritical scratchers. Those devils that scratch the furniture are usually "vertical scratchers".
I have a multi-cat house, so I have 2 scratchers hanging from door knobs, two posts, and one that's on the floor. Guh.

Why would they be content with SCRATCHERS when they can claw brocade fabric, right.
