small-scale/local choices rock... sleepy_bard March 23 2004, 13:20:18 UTC
i can't really write--i should be getting on the bus to get to school/work.
but, quick thoughts....
this is why i feel that small scale organizations--towns, and to a more limited extent, states and counties, are where meaningful government/social change often happens. and its much easier to change towns than to change countries.(i mean both in the "change of policy" sense, and moving from one to another) and, within communities, it is the organizations within it which allow people to further customize (can't think of a better word) how they live...(and even smaller than that, i suppose there's the family unit of some form...)
AND now, even better--many of these things are not limited to whoever happens to live near you, and have similar ideals---the internet helps people subvert geographical limitations...communities can be created, projects (art, literature, science, social change) between people who might not have met before (except, i guess, through serendipity--but perhaps the internet nudges serendipity along a bit) these ... )
