I'm having a really hard time getting started on Yasashii Jikan because I'm anticipating having a lot of feelings, and I'm scared of being exhausted while watching it. This is actually the reason I've put off watching it for years.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get started on something you know you want to watch but will take a lot out of you?

I feel like I should know the answer to this because I'm very much the same way... but because I am, that's probably why I don't really know either. XD

For me, sometimes it's a matter of giving myself permission to just watch them as quickly as I want and wallow in a glut of emotions but knowing I'm not going to draaaaag it out like I sometimes do. Let it wash over me~

Another angle might be pairing it with watching something else that you know will always be there to pull you out of the feelings. :) A sitcom or something light.

...does anyone really have an answer for Nino's face?? no, no we don't. XD Yasashii Jikan is one of those dramas I've had downloaded for years now and never watched either. I too will have someday accept that no one is ready for Nino's face and watch it. ♥♥

Anticipation is so hard to get over, isn't it? D: And then I think that maybe it won't be as bad as I'm imagining it, and then I realize that it's Nino, and he magnifies any feelings I have with every moment his face appears on screen. ;_;

I think just letting it happen would be good. At least I know in advance? And having a backup light show is definitely a good idea, too, thank you! And I know from experience that having a watch buddy also helps, because then you're forced to pay attention and you can't pause too much, but it's good to have techniques for watching solo as well.

Do you have some sort of fluffy, cotton-candy show or book that you could use as a chaser? That way you know after every episode that emotionally exhausts you, you'll have something that will soon be making you smile.

PHEW, this post is coming at a good time for me. I started off strong in my drama-finishing... and then got pulled off my original goal of finishing dramas that I'm long overdue to finish when I started watching 151-episode-long Jun to Ai. Sometimes you just have to start things when you get inspired to start them! And still, good drama watching, me! ...I just also have shows I want to use my drama-finishing momentum to finish off. :)

I'd say I'm a little behind my pace but I still expect to finish at least three more shows, Sprout (because that would be super easy), Bad Family, and... a third. I might come back here soon if I get my mind settled and want to declare it!! And there's a number of shows I think would be good to make a big push on and finish all at once but are still only possibilities: Osen, Unubore Deka, Mikeneko no Suiri, Bambino!

Well, we'll see. It's a fresh start! :)

*deep breath* OKAY, I'm doing it!! I'm going to do it! I'm watching City Hunter all the way through this time!! The first time through, I was swamped by feelings midway and stopped... until now. Since it's been a long time and it's a series I hold in very high esteem, I'm going to start at the beginning. Godspeed, me. XD

I've been somewhat keeping up with updating the original post, (if only because I like updating my ticker!) but that's ironically the only thing I have been keeping up on! I only had two dramas on my list, so it's slightly embarrassing to admit that I'm only going to be finishing one of my dramas (I hope). Galileo isn't very long and I've seen it before, but my work load has kicked up as I was expecting it would, so I have less free time. I will finish Arang and the Magistrate at some point, but probably won't have a chance to get back to it until April.

On the flip side, this has become more of a drama starter challenge for me, which is actually what I needed. It's not that I had all of these dramas that I had started, but never finished, but I have plenty that I've been meaning to start, but keep putting off. In that regard, this challenge has been quite successful for me!

Ah man, I have been totally lackadaisical about keeping up on this challenge, and I haven't even opened any of the folders I wanted to drop. Shame on me! But! I did watch the entirety of King of Dramas (and it was perfectly brilliant, and I want to watch it again and again because Kim Myung Min's face and also for the delightful creature that is Jung Ryu Won, who I had completely underestimated simply because I violently detested her character in My Lovely Sam-Soon.) Sooo... that's got to count for something, right???
