I wish I knew. I really do, because then I might be able to "refudiate" their arguments. Instead, I just shake my head in amazement that people don't see through her fake "folksiness" and realize she is a fraud and unfit to run anything.
I have several family members who adore her because she shares similar values or so they think. When questioned about her platform and principles they don't know where she stands on issues. I think it boils down to her having an exceptionally talented public relations/marketing person.
She's young and attractive (in presidential terms) and charismatic. And she does do a lot of stupid things. But there's a pretty strong anti-intellectual bias in this country. You don't want to appear too smart! She certainly doesn't have that problem.
And if you look at how she was speaking in the 2008 campaign vs now she's vastly improved in terms of public speaking. Pretty amazing.
I don't want her to be president or anything. But I wouldn't be surprised if she is (my money is actually on a Palin/Scott Brown ticket for 2012).
I think she still needs a lot of improvement, and what annoys me is the whole idea that all she has to do is speak a little bit better and it is all okay. The substance of the woman, her beliefs etc. That is what has not changed.
It would be scary if she was the nom, and even more of a joke if she was elected.
