I'm sorry that happened to you. That person was so rude and out of line, especially since you were in the designated area. Recently at my mom's place of work, they've completely banned smoking on the premises for everyone. I often see the employees and patients smoking in the bushes, cars, or other hiding spots. She works at a hospital though.

A hospital I can understand. I even understand designated smoking areas, but I do not think people should complain when they are in a designated smoking area.
