How do you know if a soap has the micro bead bubbles? Not sure I could get the boy to switch anyway (took years to find a soap he didn't object to the texture of) but it's worth looking into.

Usually it will say on the bottle, because the soap companies advertise the like they're a good thing. They might call them different things; "micro-beads" is just the most common. Also, you can sometimes tell by looking because they're often in contrasting colors. Here's a page with a picture of the contrasting-color ones: http://www.amway.com/Shop/Product/Product.aspx/BODY-BLENDS-Anti-Bacterial-Hand-Soap-Coconut-Lime-Escape?itemno=748128

And here's a picture of a Dove bodywash that calls them "exfoliating beads": http://www.drugstore.com/dove-body-wash-gentle-exfoliating/qxp83522 .

I Googled around and if you're not quite sure about your particular soap, apparently these usually appear on the ingredients lists as "polyethylene" (which is a type of plastic).

Hope that helps!

Oh those things! We tried a hand soap with those once. We both abhorred the texture and got rid of it without finishing the bottle. Now I just have one more reason to stay far away.

These are tremendously helpful, thank you! I always thinking of plastic like packaging but there is clearly so much more to it than that.

These are helpful, thank you! (I already do the "bringing my own mug," one, for just the reasons you mention.

Also, can I just say that "nurdle" is a splendidly silly word?

You're very welcome! Yeah, it's amazing what an attitude difference that mug can make.

I <3 THAT WORD SO MUCH. I really wish it were a word for something actually good, because it is fun.
