I don't think I've ever said 'partner'. It's a bothersome word to me. In my opinion, it sounds both less important than it's intended meaning and, also, pretentious. What I really can't stand is 'life partner'...I apologize to those who like it, I don't mean to offend, but I caaan't stand it.
As for women...I think it's a competition thing.
As for you, Mrs. Thaaang, congratulations: ) I've been wanting to see photographs of your weddin'. Kudos to the both of you!

I hate it too! I am fortunate to live where I do but still get that here and there and when it does it hits hard because it is not like I am on guard!

yeah, i can see how that would be a bit blindsiding (if that's even a word). the weird thing is that i haven't felt like this - tired - for a long time. that is, tired about having to be a marginalized person. i think being married kicks things up a notch, politically.
