[Frederic came home from shopping to hear your dorking, housemate and sees all the candy wrappers. But he had his journal open most of the time during shopping, so he knew what was going on. Yet even still, he'll have a look of surprise on his face because he really wasn't expecting this much of a mess.]

Helios, what on earth is all this mess for?

[A sigh escapes his lips as he places the groceries on the table and begins to help Helios clean up the mess.] It's all right, Helios.

[ He'll just smile because he's in a rather good mood, Frederic. As he finishes cleaning up. ] Would you like any? I think I have some more in the cabinet. [ He goes over to it and behold a nice bag of candy awaits. ]

[He does not like candy, Helios. He only like gingerbread, he's a prune. Yet he watches his friend.] Candy? I don't think I will like it very much.

[ He pops a hard candy into his mouth as he eyes Frederic. ] Oh but you shouldn't knock it before you try it! Perhaps there's a certain type we could get you to try. [ He is thinking now. ]

[He ponders and looks at the candy his friend is eating.] What type of candy are you eating?

It's a hard candy not very sweet at all! [ He hands him one of the many candies from the small bag he procured from the cabinet. ]

[Frederic begins eating it and simply says nothing for a long while, then looks at his friend after swallowing.] Hmmm, this is quite good.

[ That gets a smile from Helios. ] See? I knew you'd enjoy something! It's not so bad in moderation really. [ Except he breaks that rule so bad. ]

[He laughs a little and holds out his hand.] Perhaps I may be allowed to have another, my friend?

Of course of course! Have as many as you like. [ He has turned you to the darkside Frederic, kekeke. But he will hand over a few more before finishing cleaning up the rest of the mess. ]

You are so kind, Helios. Thank you so much, perhaps All Hallow's Eve isn't so terrible after all. [He eats more of the candy and begins to ponder something.] When did the tradition of giving out candy on All Hallow's Eve?

Oh please, think nothing of it! It's here in the apartment for the both of us after all. [ He still has a stupid grin on his face don't mind him. But he will ponder your question for a moment before replying. ] Hm well it began in the Middle Ages. Back then it was called souling if I'm not mistaken.

But what purpose did "souling" have to All Hallow's Eve and candy? It sounds a little odd. [He eats more of the candy and thinking on it, but also watching Helios to see what he says.]

Ah well the purpose was to give children and the poor food on All Saints Day. So they handed out little cakes called souls, hence the term souling, and each one that was eaten was said to have freed that soul from Purgatory.
